Prohibited items

• School uniform: blazers, jumpers, shirts, trousers, skirts, ties.
• PE and sports kit: rugby, football, swimming, tracksuits, shorts.
• Coats and outerwear, including school coats.
• Footwear: school shoes, trainers, boots and PE shoes.
• Bags and stationery: school bags, PE bags, pencil cases.
• Other school-related items that families commonly pass on, such as lunch boxes, water bottles and revision guides.

Items must be clean, in a fair condition that you describe honestly, and yours to sell or give away.

The following are never allowed on SchoolCart:

• Illegal or stolen goods, including anything you do not have the right to sell.
• Fake or counterfeit items, and unofficial copies of branded or school-badged goods that pretend to be genuine.
• Weapons, including knives, replica or toy guns that look real, pepper spray, and anything made to hurt someone.
• Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vapes and related equipment.
• Medicines, medical devices and supplements.
• Hazardous items, such as chemicals, fireworks, flammable or explosive materials.
• Recalled or unsafe products, and anything with known safety faults.
• Adult, offensive or hateful material, including items that promote violence, discrimination or extremism.
• Live animals and animal products.
• Personal data, accounts, gift cards, vouchers, tickets or anything with a cash value.
• Services and non-school goods, such as tutoring, childcare, vehicles, property or general household items. These are not what SchoolCart is for.
• Bulk or business stock, and anything bought only to resell.

Some second-hand items are allowed but need care, because mistakes can matter for a child's safety or privacy.

• Safety equipment such as helmets, shin pads and gum shields. Be upfront about age and any knocks or damage. Buyers should check they are in good order and fit properly, and replace them if there is any doubt. We do not allow child car seats.
• Items marked with a child's name. Remove or cover name-tapes and labels before you photograph or hand over an item, and never list a name.
• School-badged items. Real school uniform is welcome. Items that copy a school's crest or branding without being the genuine article are not. Schools are not necessarily affiliated with or endorsed by SchoolCart.
• Underwear, swimwear and socks must be unworn or like new, and clean.
• Footwear should be wearable with no major wear, splits or loose soles.

• Photos showing children, faces, names, home addresses or vehicle number plates.
• Phone numbers, email addresses, social media names or links to other sites, in photos, titles, descriptions or messages.
• Pictures that are not of the actual item.
• Misleading titles or descriptions, or listing an item you do not have.
• Requests for payment details, or for money to be sent before an item is seen. SchoolCart does not take payments.

We may hold, edit or remove any listing that breaks this list, our Community Guidelines or our Terms & Conditions. A member's first listing is checked before it goes live. Repeated or serious breaches can lead to the account being suspended or closed.

If you are not sure whether something is allowed, it is best not to list it.
